BACK IN THE 1800's, Auraria was the site of the first gold rush in the United States. This 39.2+/- acre tract would have been considered "Uptown" Auraria. Today, the only evidence of that frenzied period is a name and the tailings alongside the creek that flows through the property. The tract is nicely wooded, and some of the hardwoods are massive. This is mountain country, so there's a flat hilltop on the property that starts off sloping gently then plunges down to a small flat-ish bottom to a nice tumble-stone creek. A educated eye will recognize the humps and bulges alongside as old gold-mining activity. Mountain views are seasonal, do some trimming out and you'll have a year-round Blue Ridge Mountain vista. The property is located in a rural area on the south side of Dahlonega, off a gravel road, and a short commute to the 4-lane Hwy. 400. A reasonably priced and interesting property.
Directions: From Downtown Dahlonega: Take GA Hwy 9 South for 1.5 miles and turn left onto Auraria Road, go 3.9 miles and turn left onto Falling Pines Road, go 0.4 miles to property on the left.
