Big Horse Stable is now open and ready to fill all your equestrian needs. Whether you are an advanced rider who is looking for a great facility, or you are a novice just beginning to learn, Big Horse Stable is perfect for you.

At Big Horse a “safe ride” program is used emphasizing safety as our highest priority. The horses at Big Horse are selected carefully for our students based on soundness and temperament, so that students may progress in a rewarding environment.

The students at Big Horse are required to wear a safety approved helmet at all times when mounted. Younger students are required to wear helmets when grooming as well. Horsemanship is taught to all students at Big Horse to ensure safety of both horse and rider.

Riding Lessons

Individual – Students may arrange a private lesson by calling the Big Horse Stable office for available times. Lessons are $40 and range from 30 to 45 minutes. Beginner students will ride individually until their skill level allows them to participate in group instruction.
Group – Students in the After School Program will ride in small groups (no more than four students at a time) based on their ability and the scheduled lesson plan. Group lessons are $40 and range from 40 to 60 minutes.

Horseshows

Big Horse participates in the First Coast Hunter Jumper Association horse shows held at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Students compete in a wide variety of events during the day. Walk/trot classes as well as the jumper divisions. For more information contact Big Horse Stable.

Field Trips

Big Horse will schedule field trips for our students that are educational as well as fun. Field trips will be announced through the Big Horse Bulletin.

Birthday Parties

Birthday parties may be scheduled through the Big Horse Stable office. Price range from $250 to $350 depending on the activities selected.

Trail Rides

A 1 – 1½ hour trail ride through the beautiful 250 acre Bartram Preserve is available for students as well as the general public. Novices through advanced rides are welcome. The maximum number of riders is six (6). English as well as Western saddles are available according to your preference. The cost is $40 per person. Riders under the age of six will be asked to schedule a pre-trail lesson to insure their safety. In accordance with our safe rider policy all participants are required to wear safety helmets on trail rides.

Summer and Holiday camps

Camps are scheduled throughout the summer and other holidays such as spring break, Thanksgiving and Christmas when the children are out of school. The cost is $300 per week per child or $70 per day per child. Activities include horseback riding, swimming, kayaking, martial arts, tennis and much more.
